I think what you are experiencing (pun intended) is that confusion I have been witnessing in almost everybody (designers included) since the term “UX” became this popular.
Most of what you are talking about is something that’s been around for 40+ years, and it’s called “Interaction Design”.
The rest, well… the rest is simply “Design”.
